Kristin Anderson is another marvellous designer-technician I came across for the first time during my digging around on the WWW. I look at the Humpback in the piece above and wonder how she managed such accuracy on such a small scale. Mastery of the medium allows that sort of anatomical accuracy but by itself doesn't make the piece the work of art it is. Birdpeople talk about the "jizz" of a bird - the host of often subliminal information that allows them to recognise a particular species from a brief glimpse in the half-dark. Kristin captures the jizz of the whale for me - that by itself, without any of her other stuff is enough to qualify her as the third of our "Benchmarks".
